When Place Becomes a Platform

The Greater Sacramento region has long been associated with government, food, and agriculture. What the prevailing narrative overlooked was a growing base of serious technology companies, founders, and builders operating without a shared identity or gravitational center. The constraint was not innovation, but signal. Without a unifying narrative or convening mechanism, talent dispersed, investors looked elsewhere, and regional economic potential remained underexposed.

In its first year, Folsom Tech Week generated over $10,000 in ticket sales, attracted more than 300 attendees, and engaged a broad base of local vendors and sponsors. Multiple new ventures emerged from the event, including one startup that secured a direct contract with the City of Folsom. The initiative established a new regional narrative—activated, credible, and execution-oriented.
